Mount Silverheels is a near Fourteener that sits just to the north and west of Fairplay, Colorado. It is an impressive mountain and she keeps watch over the South Park region.

Silverheels was a dance hall girl in the mining camp of Buckskin Joe, she got her name from the silver shoes she wore. When a smallpox epidemic hit in the 1800's most left but Silverheels stayed and took care of her friends. She caught the disease and was badly scarred; retreating to a small cabin at the base of the mountain she mysteriously disappeared. Many say that a woman wearing a black veil still visits the graves of her friends in the cemetery at Buckskin Joe.
